The digital version used to have a top notch design and now its the worst. Why am I paying for something that is much worst than a website.
Macworld needs to go back to a printed version...IMMEDIATELY! Ditch this asinine, worthless digital magazine nonsense. It took over 15 minutes to even figure out how to retrieve my sign in just to read the latest issue. This was after having to reset my password that I was using for YEARS??? Hey Macworld, print media is still alive and well. I recently bought a book (remember those?) with printed pages, a cover, and a free bookmark. The best part is that its 0.00% digital. No broken/useless apps necessary.
All my issues are gone, and we went backwards to old format. Nice upgrade:(
You cannot restore in app purchases with the new app. Hope you folks get this fixed soon.
Similar experience to the other reviews here. I tried many times to restore my back issues after upgrading to the new version without success. Tried to contact Customer Service with no response. I cancelled my subscription.
On the eve of leaving town for Christmas and New Years, the app updates...recognizes me as a subscriber (direct through Macworld, for a dozen years), but insists I pay for issues, new and old--this, in addition to having lost all of my saved bookmarks. I emailed Customer Service first thing yesterday morning, but still no word, and Im headed to a rural location where downloading a bunch of issues wont be an option. :::frustrated::: UPDATE: A full week later, and still no response from Macworld or the developer. As loyal as Ive been to this publication for years, have to admit, this is a major fail on multiple fronts.
The instructions for linking a subscriber account are very confusing and cumbersome--and they dont even seem to work. I attempted to contact customer support through the app but that doesnt seem to work either.
Have emailed 6 times over last 8 days and still no response from customer service - unable to log into app to read issues even though can get into web site fine
This version of the MacWorld app wont recognize my existing account and wont keep me signed in! Dont upgrade if you dont have to. Please fix this app so I can continue to read the magazines I paid for in 2017!
Every time this app is updated I lose all my issues and my subscription information. It requires a call to Macworld support and 24 hours for it to be fixed.
Macworld now looks like a PDF mag. Nothing innovative about presentation or interaction.
If it was possible, I would rate this app with negative stars. Very possibly, the most confusing and subscriber unfriendly thing that I was exposed to doing the last calendar year. Even though I am a subscriber, this application charged my account for the December issue and I have not received any response back from my complaint to MacWorld. Apparently, I was supposed to know how to log in to their application, despite the fact that I had not read their email indicating all of the changes that took place. I get about 100 emails a day. I regularly/weekly read this magazine. This was a highly non-intuitive process for existing subscribers because, even after I read the email, it was a confusing process. It is too bad, because the Macworld Magazine staff deserves a better app interface particularly since this new one is worse than what it replaced.
Cant sign in through the iTunes Subscriber button, says it will restore my purchases but doesnt. Contacted support, never heard back. Update: After 2 support requests unanswered I decided this garbage app update was the straw that broke the camels back. Cancelled my subscription and will never give my support again.

You can be sure that I will not renew my subscription to this poor excuse for a magazine. While I can sort of access the December issue, after the first 5 pages all I get is a blank screen. How can they think anyone will pay them money for this travesty. Dont waste your hard earned dollars.

I dont understand the truly negative reviews, especially this day of e-books, e-mags and e-newspapers. What I do miss is the ability to remove pages to keep for future problems.
This app works great. I was confused at first so I will help others like me. First, I went to Settings > Customer Support I was emailed back in a prompt manner. It turns out I was not an iTunes subscriber, I had bought my subscription on the MacWorld website. I was confused at first by the iTunes Subscriber or Digital Subscriber option. I needed to login as a Digital Subscriber based on how I purchased my subscription. After the confusion was cleared up and I realized how old I was. I am now amazed at how easy it is to read the magazine on my phone or ipad and love it.
