God Awful

I agree that all you get is a 6 page preview, even with a paid subscription.

Does not work well

IPad 3 OS 8. It took several fumbling tries to set up from my print account. Almost impossible to read pages in order, some pages cannot be accessed. To archive takes too many tries until it finally works. Otherwise pretty...Please fix this. Eventually it should be great. It lik the print magazine .

So Far, A Beautiful, Informative Digital Magazine That I Hate

Ive been a print subscriber to MacWorld for going on 20 years. Perhaps its my age, lifestyle, or personality but I prefer a printed newspaper or magazine, by far, in almost every case. While this is the same content it is much more difficult to read. The absence of a landscape mode means the reader has to either have a vertical stand or hold the iPad. My subscription expires in February 2015. It will be my last issue.

No to Zinio

I have been a subscriber to Macworld since the first edition. After reading Zinio’s legal terms, I am forced to give up on MacWorld. Be sure you read all of the terms before subscribing (see just one examples below): "How we use cookies"-“We require that cookies be enabled in your Web browser… Zinio may allow other companies that are providing content on the Site to set and access their own cookies on your computer. Other companies use of cookies is subject to their respective privacy policies.” No way Zinio

Seriously?

This is supposed to be the premier publication for all things Apple, including iOS, and they can not even manage the most rock-bottom basic functionality of a landscape mode in their app, something that pretty much every other (non-iOS-centric) magazine can handle??? This is the only one that I currently read which has this limitation, and please dont use interactive features as an excuse, Wired has been doing it for years, in any orientation. Especially now that they have abandoned the print edition, there is no excuse to be forced into this format. Hopefully one of the next updates will make them finally catch up with everybody else.

Very poor subscription management

I decided to subscribe directly through the app store. Since then I bought a new iPad and the subscription is unrecognized. The only sign in option offered is to the magazine web site not with my itunes account. It appears this will be a non starter. Very disappointing as the product is OK.

no iPhone 6 support

I have had a print and iPad subscription for a long time. Now that I have an iPhone 6 Plus I wanted at least some level of access to the same material but no dice. Without the print version do I now have to carry around an extra device just to read this?

Paper was better

I was forced over to the digital edition after Macworld canceled the print edition. Reading the magazine using this app makes me miss the print option even more. Its very pretty, but not very usable. The text is quite small and cant be adjusted (pages seem to be fixed format viewable in portrait mode only). Some pages are missing. Its sometimes hard to tell the ads from the colorful first pages of multipage articles. Its pretty easy to accidentally trigger videos or page transitions when its not intended. It doesnt help that the action for some locations on the screen is context-dependent. The tiny embedded scroll windows in some articles are painful to use. This is, over all, a very unsatisfactory alternative to a fine print magazine. Ill be asking for a refund of the rest of my existing subscription.

CEO

It’s too bad that the bottom line has the final word. It’s true that all paper magazines are pretty much on their last legs save for a select few more suitable for coffee tables than reading. This was strictly a cost-cutting move and, sadly, it will not succeed in keeping this venerable magazine alive. When my subscription expires, I’m done with it. Adios MacWorld, it was good while it lasted. I miss those old giant printed editions now.

Surprisingly Good

I was a bit concerned when I was told I would need to transition from the print version of Macworld to the digital version, because what Ive been exposed to until now - yes Im a reluctant digital print adopter - are the PDF only versions where you must scroll around and zoom in and out to read what you want. While I feel there are several issues to be ironed out, Macworld digital has addressed many of my concerns with their Enhanced Edition. The Good: - Download speed for the December 2014 version was about 2 minutes over my 25 Mbps home wifi using my iPad2 and IOS7. - Going to the table of contents, clicking on any article and being taken directly to it. - Being able to flip through the magazine just like a normal magazine. - Watching a video tutorial of what is covered in an article. - Thumbnail views of the first page of every article, so you can jump to any article in the magazine. The Bad: - Some of the advertisements had print that was too small. I assume they will need to work with their advertisers on this or add a scroll bar or zoom capability to the app. - The font used in the articles was good, but I wonder if a different font would produce better results on older iPads. Alternately, provide an option for a bigger (or different) font. - Article scrolling using the scroll bar (which some articles used). The article graphic or picture stayed put while the reader is required to scroll more often due to the reduced space. I would prefer a bigger space for scrolling, and have the graphic or picture move with the article, or at least have a reduced size when the scrolling starts.

Night Mare MacWorld

Have a subscription Rally around the pole. Keep running around the pole. Macworld downloaded. after putting in subscription # & zip. Zinio downloaded. No access just pan handling. Why would I want to waste my time with a bunch of garbage. Look at when I bought the subscription.

Always have to delete and reinstall app to get new issue

This has been going on for some time. A new issue comes out but doesn’t show up in the app. I can see in the store there’s a new issue available. I have to delete the app, then reinstall it. After that, the latest issue shows up. It’s getting to be an annoyance.

Nonfunctional

Cant even get logged in to read the mag because the letters on my keyboard disappear when asked to key in my password. Yeah.

This is a sad excuse for a reader-friendly publiation

I am a longtime subscriber who is not going to renew.

Need iPhone version!

I am a long time subscriber and read on my iPad Mini but really want to be able to read on my 6+ too. A lot of magazines have a compatible version. Please make it available to iPhones ASAP.

Prefer the print edition

IDG is discontinuing the print edition, so I did the conversion to this iPad edition. Now I know why the last few print editions have been unreadable, with tiny type fonts and weird colored backgrounds. They were optimizing the layout for the new electronic editions. The trouble with the e-edition is it is huge and takes many minutes to download even on a fast wi-fi connection. I dont like having the storage on my iPad taken up with magazines. I used to keep back issues of Macworld. No more. No room. The mag itself is not bad to navigate. Unfortunately some articles are presented as videos instead of articles, so I cannot read silently any more. The content is not useful and interesting enough. There is another mag out there with better and more useful content. At least, they did extend my subscription by a couple of years in lieu of a discount for having been given an inferior product with no notice and no choice. I will try it for a while. I feel kind of ripped off, though.update: this is a rip-off. I cannot get access to any more issues, even though I have the subscription. Help on the web site is not available or not working

Good magazine... Could be the worst interface ever

I subscribed to the print edition for 2 years. The. They pulled the plug on it and its digital only ( no apologies, no incentives, but I can live with it) However the magazine is about 2 years behind ones like Wired or Esquire. Tough to read on iPad mini. Worst of all? When they update their app it wipes all of your magazines away... You have to download again. Even worse.... When you go to the log in site ( which is a little harder to find than a unicorn, ) none of the links work. For example the missing issues? Link doesnt work, the activate digital subscription doesnt work. And the restore issues doesnt work. Suggestion to Macworld: 1. Help your subscribers 2. Dont scam us with a poor product after we paid for something else 2. Make a bit of effort on your product.

Needs work

The content is there. It is unfortunate there are no links in the table of contents and you cant bookmark a page. It has an option to "edit" but I cant find anything I can edit or annotate for later

Disaster

New version upgrade disables previous downloads and you need to scramble to find the last issues cover for your account number to log in again? This while being prompted to upgrade while starting to read the latest version after long download? Terrible.

Must Enter Account # and Email Each Time!

New update 5.2.9 requires that you sign in each time you want to read part of an issue. Sign in means entering your 8 digit account number and your email address. Ridiculous. Unless you read the magazine in one sitting, you have to sign in over and over again.
