Macworld Digital Magazine U.S. App Reviews

This app destroys your library of issues

The new version of this app erased all previously downloaded issues. It then refused to allow me to log in, so I cannot download them again, even though I followed the instructions in the email. Complaints to customer support have been ignored. This app is a disgrace. It then had the nerve to ask me to rate it. This revise is the result. My years of reading Macworld are over.

Why are magazine apps generally bad and this one even worse?

I do not understand why magazine apps are so bad. Whether in managing the subscription or in the interface, they are all frustrating, clumsy, non intuitive and wildly inconsistent. MacWorld truly fails and sets a new low bar for this generally terrible app domain because it seems impossible to get to my subscription. My help request from Dec 24 just got an answer on Jan 4. How is that for prompt service?

Bad and getting worse

Fine it sad that a tech magazine is this technologically inept. Hardly worth the time to download, when the app allows it.

JUST USE ZINO

After this latest update the Mac World app has been useless. Finally got fed up with it and was able to view my subscription with the ZINO app instead. And, its way better too!

Worse than previous version

Does keep track of where you stopped reading plus favorites doesnt work.

An embarrassment...

Usefulness of content is slipping, especially given that much of it is available elsewhere. Hard to believe that functionality of a magazine focusing on a tech topic compares abysmally to that of a 120 year old magazine such as "Country Life". Barring sea change in quality, shall join the ranks of ex-subscribers as soon as subscription expires.

Could it be any worse?

Ill concur with other reviewers about the sad state of the log in process. Truly pathetic. Its almost as if theyre going out of their way to anger their customers. Sad thing is they dont have a paper version so I guess Ill not be renewing and going elsewhere.

Hours Of My Time

Apple should institute a program that pays for our time when an perfectly workable application becomes impossible. True rating is IT DIES NOT WORK

Dont know what the fuss is about

Some glitches with the change over but found support to be timely and helpful. The new format is better with everything on a separate page rather than swiping down to finish an article before across to the next.

Great app, great mag!

The app is pretty basic but elegant and more importantly it works very smoothly so that you can focus on what you are reading. Definitely one of my favourite magazine app!

Very good

Designed for iPad app, very good contents, Im very surprised by this app. Maybe the story font could be more modern but its a pleasure to read and navigate. Im now an happy subscriber.

April 2014 issue still not available

The april 2014 is still not available. It is, with Zinio ... The issues are always late on Apple Newstand. This time it´s really very late. This application is also not ergonomic. Only 2 levels of zoom are available. On an iPad mini, it´s not enough. I think, i Will switch back to Zinio.

Good source of informations

This magazine is a very nice source of informations of the apple world.

Easy to use app, stable and quick. There good amount of features to not bloat it.

App loads and run quickly, testing it with only one mag purchased. Havent saw a crash yet which is good and library is simple and straight to use.

App is crash crazy. I even tried reinstalling.

Why dont u guys test before putting it up on cloud

Decent App (although just barely)

I bought this app a little while ago and have been trying to figure why they bothered to write an app instead or just creating PDFs of the magazine. Granted, the app is basically free and Im paying $2 a month for the mag and not having to figure out how to recycle old issues which is good (but not better than just having a PDF version of the mag.

Subscription

Please get yearly subscriptions the monthly one dont make any sense for people that dont have credit cards on their iTunes account.

Love the content and the format

I dont get the naysayers, the app / magazine has been great for me. I got the monthly subscription for now, as I wasnt sure whether I wanted to commit for a year, but now that Ive read through the Mountain Lion issue, I think I will. Its just like the printed magazine, only it looks gorgeous on my new iPad. No stability issues whatsoever.

Glorified PDF

Little effort went into this magazine. It no better than a PDF document.

Awesome

Great app, everything works.
