Disappearing issues

I had a 2 year subscription, started just before it went paperless. (No warning that the paper version was ending.) Ive been slow to use the new format but regularly went in to download issues. As far as Im concerned, these issues should be mine for viewing on my iPad for as long as I want. The subscription cost did not go down even though nothing is printed or mailed (and mailing to Canada adds considerably to the costs). But no, the issues just disappeared off my iPad without warning. I can no longer access or download the because my subscription has run out. ☹️

Not an improvement

I would avoid this upgrade, if I could get a do over. Bookmarking pages doesnt work. You have to flip through all pages of an article to skip it, instead of just the first page. And resetting up your account information is a hassle, assuming you can remember the email address you originally used and your password. Also, all previously downloaded issues are erased.

Dont download! Updated

Update: all of a sudden it started working. Dont think it was anything I did - perhaps it needed time to realise Im a subscriber. I did, yesterday, and now I have no issues in my library and no way to download them even though I have a paid-up subscription through Macworld. I advise you to wait until they fix the bugs.

Bad resolution

Latest update made the resolution much worse, especially for the biggest iPad Pro screens.

It coulda been a contenda...

A terrible implementation; a publication like MacWorld deserves better. Unfortunately, the parent company, IDG, doesnt give a darn about the reader -- see their online offering for more proof of this -- the autoplaying video content, ad-heavy pages, and so on. Back to this app. As others have noted, it wont download in the background, so you have to keep the app open and just wait. No working on something else -- just wait. If youre reading an issue and put it aside for a while, your place is lost. In fact, you have to go to your library and open the issue all over again and find where you left off. Very annoying! I gave up the subscription, and the chances of my returning are close to nil.

HORRIFIC

To reinforce what all of the others have said, the shift to digital has been AWFUL! As well, because the app is so difficult to navigate, and cumbersome with having to ref-download the content, I just gave up and no longer read the magazine. I miss the great articles and how-toos. But that I cannot view the magazine in landscape with my iPad Pro is both surprising and frustrating. I wish I could give it 0 stars and still post the comments. Dont waste your money on a subscription - I have two issues left on my multi-year subscription, and I am just going to let it lapse. I guess IDG is more devoted to the PC World.

Unforgivable

If a new Mercedes were introduced to fans of fine automobiles with one caveat - that it had been built by marmosets using pebbles, mud, and their own waste - they would find that the new car had the same level of functionality as this app.

Put a sock in it

I really dont get all the complaints. Im not sure what the whiners expect, but I think Macworld is great.

Cant read the magazine I paid for

The app says "No subscription active" then, when I click "subscribe" it says I already have a subscription. Sometimes, rarely, it works and I can read an issue but then that issue disappears. Its really surprising that a magazine called MACWORLD doesnt work on an iPad!!!

Another inept "developer"

Not a single update in well over a year and a half?! Apple needs to start kicking crap-apps and their developers out of their App Stores -- both iOS and OS X. Inexcusable.

Improvements required

The app is great to read the magazine on the go, however it lacks the no-sleep function that zinio is providing so the tablet would not dip or go to dark in the middle of a reading. Another annoying thing is the ad showing up on many pages.

How about taking advantage of viewing in horizontal or vertical.

Why cant you design this to shift from vertical to horizontal for viewing and reading. Pretty much every other app does this

Dont bother

I had a subscription, only to open it one day and find all my issues gone. Emailed "support" twice. No response.

Frustrating!!!!!

Countless times Ive tried to log in & am unable to access my subscriptions to read! Everything worked fine until you changed login process, what is going on? Ive entered my password, tried forgot my password, & it still does not work! Please fix, nothing works, EXCEPT the error message.

Terrrible

Still cant save as PDF or EPUB. No better than previous horrible reading experiences.

Sad

I loved the print edition. I bought my subscription years and years in advance, because MacWorld deserved my money. Then they went digital only. It has been… Not good. I force myself to download the issues now, but sometimes cant wait for my subscription to end in 2018. Actually, Im quite sure I cant last that long. With this new transition from Zinio to the MacWorld app, it appears to be getting even worse. I just tried out the app, and I cant even zoom. Really? No zoom? And thats just the tip of the iceberg. Why didnt they just let the magazine die. I hope for MacWorld staff are finding good jobs elsewhere. They deserve better.

You did it again!

Updated the app to something that did not work. After updating it is as if my subscription never existed and All my downloaded magazines disappeared. How can you call yourselves "Macworld" and screw up an app repeatedly?

Wait before you upgrade

Long time subscriber who had a working app before the update. I followed the instructions and successfully logged in to my account. Despite being logged in, I cant download any Macworld issues as I must "Purchase or Subscribe". So, here I sit staring at the Macworld apps annoying banner ad unable to do anything.

What happened?

After two days of trying to login and carefully reading the lengthy email instructions sent out from Macworld, Im finally logged in. However, the new format is terrible. Its basically the same as a plain old PDF reader. If you change it to reader mode, it looks awful but hey, you can make the text bigger!! Its a sad state of affairs for Macworld when the only magazine left standing dedicated to Apple cant deliver on a true digital experience. The old version constantly lost my place but at least it was better. Please fix. And fix the ridiculous login issues.

Disappointed

So far the latest version is a fail. I cant access any past issues, and restoring purchases does nothing.
